Cast for sea bass, grouper, and amberjack off Mallorca's southwest coast. Rods, tackle, bait, and an experienced fishing skipper included on every private charter from Puerto Portals.
Fish the Waters of Mallorca
The rocky shelf between Puerto Portals and Cap de Cala Figuera drops from 20 to 80 metres over a short distance, creating a feeding zone that attracts predatory species year-round. Protected from prevailing winds by the Tramuntana mountains, the water stays fishable from April through November.
Fishing Zones:
The Malgrats Drop-off — Rocky pinnacles at 30-50m where amberjack and grouper hold. Prime jigging territory from May to September.
Cap de Cala Figuera — The headland creates a current funnel where bonito and barracuda chase baitfish. Best trolling run on the southwest coast.
Puerto Portals Reef — Rocky shoreline within 10 minutes of the marina, holding sea bass (lubina) from October to April. Shore-casting from the boat in calm water.
The Sandy Shelf — Flat sandy bottom at 40-60m between Magaluf and Santa Ponsa. Bottom fishing with live bait for dentex and red snapper.
Cruise at 5-7 knots along the coastal shelf from Puerto Portals toward Port d'Andratx. Lines set at multiple depths targeting bonito, barracuda, and bluefish. Action-packed — expect strikes within the first hour.
Anchor over rocky reefs at 20-50m depth between the Malgrats islands and Cap de Cala Figuera. Target grouper (mero) and dentex with live bait. Patient, rewarding fishing that produces the biggest catches.
Vertical jigging over rocky pinnacles for amberjack (seriola) — the hardest-fighting fish in Mallorcan waters. Fish to 30kg from May to September. Adrenaline fishing for experienced anglers.
European sea bass (lubina) up to 8kg patrol the rocky shoreline near Portals Nous from October to April. Light tackle, casting lures into the surf zone. The most technical and rewarding inshore fishing on the island.

Head back with your catch iced in the cooler. Your skipper can recommend a local restaurant that will cook your fish for dinner.
Choose Your Boat
No. Your skipper handles rigging, bait, and technique. Complete beginners regularly catch their first fish on our boats. If you're experienced, the skipper will match the tackle and spots to your level.
Depends on season. May-September: amberjack, bonito, barracuda, bluefish. October-April: sea bass (lubina), dentex, red snapper. Year-round: grouper. Your skipper selects the technique that matches the season.
Yes. We ice your catch in the onboard cooler. Several restaurants in Puerto Portals and nearby will cook your fish — ask your skipper for a recommendation. Nothing beats eating what you caught that morning.
Early morning departures (6-7 AM) are best for fishing — the first two hours are the most productive. But we'll work around your schedule. Late afternoon trips can combine fishing with a sunset finish.
